Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. The word "Ayurveda" comes from the Sanskrit words "ayur" (life) and "veda" (science or knowledge), together meaning "the science of life." Tejomaia.com

The concept of ayurveda is based on two major principles. The first principle is that the body and mind are interconnected, and the second principle is that the mind is powerful enough to heal the body. The body is cured of illnesses only when one's awareness of the self expands. Ayurveda aims to promote good health and prevent illness by using a holistic approach that takes into account an individual's unique physical and mental characteristics. This includes using natural remedies such as herbal medicines, massage and Yoga, and making lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise.

It also includes the concept of three "doshas" or energies present in the body, vata, pitta and kapha, which are each associated with specific physical and mental characteristics, it helps to understand the balance in the body and how to maintain it.
